ATRC Holds Second Steering Committee Meeting

Date Published: May 15, 2024

Washington, D.C. – The Accessible Transportation Resource Center (ATRC) hosted its second Steering Committee meeting on May 6, 2024.

Thirteen of the twenty committee members attended the meeting in DC and six joined virtually. Staff from the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment, and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) were also in attendance.

The Steering Committee refined ATRC’s definition of accessible transportation, including essential elements like reliability, ease of access to information, and an accessible complete trip from origin to destination. The committee also discussed the six priority areas identified at the first committee meeting in November 2023: reliable paratransit, access to knowledge and information, technology, travel away from home, the first mile/last mile problem, and the economy and accessible transportation

The ATRC partners and ACL also received feedback on expanding the National Accessible Transportation Accelerator Network (NATAN) and the upcoming Community of Practice. To join NATAN and stay up to date with ATRC please email atrc@acl.hhs.gov.
